Deputy Secretary-General The Office of Regional Administration and Local Government in charge of Education Gerald Mweli has officially opened the national essay competition in Form One to Four in Dodoma.

Opening the national competition on behalf of the Minister of TAMISEMI Hon. Selemani Jafo, Mweli has called on parents and caregivers to help their children ‘s involvement in developing skills for thinking, writing, expressing themselves and doing research that will help them academically, make them better academics and also in their lives.

“We all know that the essay has been instrumental in helping children especially in developing their thinking, writing, research skills and the ability to express themselves in Swahili and English. In addition, he said the competition will run from June 1, 2020 to June 30, 2020 and that each participant will have to follow the criteria attached to the target site where the final day after completing the exercise will be given prizes to the winners including certificates of recognition for their participation.

He said the best teachers would be involved in correcting all essays for high school students in form one through fourth through 2020 and presenting results to first- to tenth-graders.



With Messenger Mohammed Staff Manager from Drem Tree Co. Ltd said the prizes to be given to the ten winners include the first winner until the fifth will receive a laptop each and cash 500,000 shillings for the first winner, 400,000 second winner, 300,000 for third winner, 200,000 for the fourth winner and 100,000 shillings for the fifth winner.

For six to ten winners, they will receive 100,000 shillings each as well as certificates for all outstanding students provided by the President’s Office in addition to the prizes. There will also be a special celebration to recognize and award prizes to all winners.

The essay contest is jointly held between the TAMISEMI and the Dream Tree Foundation with the aim of building young to become better educated and able to use both Swahili and English languages, which commences on June 1 and ends on June 30, 2020.
