New "Communications, Events and Fundraising Officer" Job Opportunity at We Are TLM Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (On-site).

 

We are currently seeking to hire an experienced full-time Communication, Events and Fundraising Officer to join our team at Tumaini La Maisha Tanzania (TLM). The position is a full time appointment with a salary of 1,000,000 Tsh take home monthly plus local health Insurance coverage.

Duties and responsibilities

With input from the organization’s CEO, COO and Donor Manager/ CFO, the position holder will be responsible for all TLM’s marketing and fundraising related tasks.

 

Specifically in:

 1.        Strategic Partnerships:

  • Identify, build and maintain partnerships that contribute to the ethos of TLM. Whether with a focus on psycho-social outings, funding, awareness, volunteering, media channels or creatively.
  • To constantly look to expand the scope of the organization through stronger partnerships to support all programme areas where possible.
  • To ensure that TLM is represented well publicly through careful management of media, copy and partner selection. To work always with the best interests of the children in mind.


2.        Organizational Support and capacity building

  • Support operations by contributing to the management and development of current and future programmes. Support the management of non-medical and Medical volunteers and programme officer.
  • Support TLM staff in their duty to develop monthly plans and reports for programme in their respective areas.


3.        Fundraising:

  • Manage and oversee TLM Piggy bank campaigns, festivals and assist with international fundraising activities such as the Galway and Killruddery Balls, online auctions and sale of TLM goods overseas. Work closely with the Fundraising and Donor management team.
  • Contribute to the sourcing and development of funding proposals through data collection and analysis under the supervision of donor Manager
  • Assist donor manager on the development of designated funding proposals to donors.
  • Provide technical assistance and in-put to relevant programme staff and Donor Manager to effectively manage the reporting cycles of donors, and coordinate, track and support grant related programme activities.


4.        Advocacy & Communications:

  • Strategize and manage content and copy for social and traditional media platforms including website, Facebook, blog, twitter, Instagram, newsletters, fundraising campaigns copy, press releases etc.
  • Ensure that all interactions with audiences and outsider inquiries are in line with TLM ethos, standards, best practices and child protection.
  • Liaise with contacts in the media, multimedia and creative arenas to collaborate on the creation of new content for change such as through awareness videos, campaigns and concepts.


Key Performance Indicators;

  1. Timeliness: ensure that all meeting minutes, calendar updates, event timelines, significant calendar dates (Childhood Cancer Awareness Month), reports, emails, correspondence and deadlines are sufficiently marked, distributed and met.
  2. Accuracy: consistently provide accuracy with details, references, sources, numbers, figures and all other details in correspondences, reports, proposals and copy for use on across media channels.
  3. Advocacy: promote tone appropriate messages, copy and information for public consumption across partnership communications, awareness campaigns, media channels, presentations and in all communications so as to accurately and fairly represent TLM.
  4. Supervise the addition of content to the social media platforms at least weekly. Review and update the website at least quarterly.
  5. Fundraising: strive for annual increments on amounts raised through a minimum of one annual Festival, a minimum of 4 separate Piggy Bank campaigns; one online Auction and all other fundraising events and initiatives’.
  6. Grant writing: deliver a minimum of 6 new grant proposals; follow up on reports and valuations in a timely, accurate and results driven manner.
  7. Office Conduct: promote a working environment with colleagues and volunteers based on cooperation, mutual respect, communication, creative problem solving and the pursuit of TLM’s goals.
  8. Strategic Partnerships: Foster a minimum of two new partnerships either local or international annually.


General qualifications:

Required:

  • Level of academic background: A degree in Marketing, Business administration, Social Studies or any other related studies
  • At least 2 years post qualification professional experience in marketing and /or fundraising
  • Proficiency in MS Office skills, particularly PowerPoint and Publisher
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Swahili
  • Good organizational skills, punctuality, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Team spirit, socially motivated and who’s personal ethos aligns with the organization.

 Desirable:

  • Relevant experience in non-profit organization
  • Experience and knowledge of fundraising and web design
