 The people’s Bank of Zanzibar Limited (PBZ) is a Semi-Autonomous Public Institution which is 100% owned by the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar. It was established on June, 30 1966 under Cap.153 of the Zanzibar Companies Decree as repealed and replaced by the Companies Act No. 15 of 2013. The primary function was to carry on the business on commercial banking activities in all of its Branches and Departments within Tanzania.

The Bank is currently offering Conventional and Islamic Banking Services through its Branches in Zanzibar, Dar es Salaam and Mtwara, with power to receive deposits, invest, lend money and other related Commercial Banking Services.

Post: : BANK OPERATION OFFICER
Location : Unguja 4, Pemba 2, Mtwara 2
Position objectives:
Maintain Competitive turnaround time and process transactions accuracy his/her efficiency and courtesy often reflects the Bank’s standard of service. He/she has to ensure that front and back office operations are performed fast, accurately and friendly.

Education and Experience:


Bachelor degree in Banking and Finance or Islamic Banking qualifications, Economics, Commerce, Finance, and Accounting from any recognized University.

Key skills and Competencies:
Strong numerical ability
Good listening and communication skills.
Professional qualifications such as CPB and equivalent shall be an added advantage

Main Duties/Responsibilities:
Coordinate all counter activities while ensuring that quality service is provided to customers.
Receive cash and cheque Deposits
Posting Transactions.
Verify teller proof of cash and tell proof of cheques against actual documents by ticking and signing printouts.
Scrutinize internal vouchers to ensure that they are properly drawn and authorized in line with approval limits.
Handle Foreign Exchange Transactions.
Cross-sell Banks Products to Customers.
Correspond with Card custodians on issues relating to ATM cards, check reports in order to solve customer complaints.
Comply with Policies and standards, Local laws and regulations, Controls and Procedures of the bank.
Ensure comply with Money Laundering Prevention as per Bank Policy, Know your Customer (KYC) Customer Due Diligence (CDD).
Reconcile and clear all suspended transactions.

Position objectives:

Education and Experience:
Holder of Degree in Business Administration majoring in Marketing, Banking and finance or Islamic Banking from any recognized University.
Postgraduate or Master Degree in Business Administration majoring in Marketing, Banking and finance or Islamic Banking will be an added advantage.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:
To receive and respond to customer service account inquiries on account balances, transaction details, statements and fees and charges.
Open new accounts/closing accounts.
Alterations to existing savings and cheque accounts.
Inquiries for personal/commercial loans
Inquiries on internet services.
Handling cash transactions and cash balancing.
Overseas transfers.
Setup periodical payment authorities on accounts.
Promote bank products and services.

Position objectives:
Facilitate the lending process after verifying the creditworthiness of the customer and reviewing loan process.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor degree in Banking and Finance or Islamic Banking qualifications, Economics, Commerce, Finance and Accounting from any recognized University.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:
Carry out credit analysis and requests on customers
Interpret documentations to make appropriate decisions.
Analyze applicants’ financial status, financing and property evaluations to determine feasibility of granting loans.
Obtain and compile copies of loan applicants’ credit histories, corporate financial statements, and other financial information.
Review and update credit and loan files.
Review loan agreements to ensure that they are complete and accurate according to policy.
Compute payment schedules
Analyze risk on loan approval.
Confer with underwriters to aid in resolving mortgage application problems.
Negotiate payment arrangements with customers who have delinquent loans.
Market bank products to individuals and firms, promoting bank services that may meet customers’ needs.
Comply with credit policies, credit lines, procedures and standards in conjunction with senior managers.

Receive and count working cash at beginning of shift.

Identify customer, validate and cash checks.

Maintaining and balancing cash drawers and reconciling discrepancies
Perform specialized tasks such as preparing cashier’s checks, personal money orders, issuing traveler’s checks and exchanging foreign currency.

Position objectives:

Duties and Responsibility
Evaluate the assigned quality of the finance portfolio and recommend appropriate actions to be taken on non performing financing.
Analyze the position of overdrafts and financing accounts against the proposed repayment schedule.
Report to the supervisor on early warning signs leading to financing default.
Monitor repayment performance of financing and advise supervisor appropriately.
Monitor movement of approved facilities through the overdraft (OD) list and ensure they are within the agreed terms and conditions.
Monitor receivable account to ensure it is correctly accrued and posted in the respective accounts as well as ensuring the Bank’s income is realized.
Ensure that stipulated financing returns by the Bank and BOT are prepared and timely submitted to respective authorities.
Prepare financing reports for management and other users.
Prepare regularly all periodic reports (weekly, monthly, and quarterly) and ensure their timely submission to respective units.
Monitor financing/overdrafts re-payments made by customers.
Ensure customers’ compliance to IBD’s financing Policy, financing Manual, financing strategy, management circulars and directives and Bank of Tanzania Regulations.
Attend to queries raised on issues related to financing supervision and monitoring.
Review and analyze possible recovery options for each finance recovery account, prepare finance recovery appraisal report and strategy and recommend for approval by appropriate approving authority.
Update the database of defaulters mortgaged sold by bank.
Update list of blacklisted customers and use the same for clearance of new financing applications.
Any other duties as may be assigned by Supervisor from time to time.

Post: : PROCUREMENT OFFICER

Location : Unguja 1
Position objectives:
Provides procurement operational support to Procurement Department in the bank
Education and Experience:
Holder of Bachelor of Procurement and Supplies from any recognized University.


Key skills and Competencies:
Computer literacy.
Some experience at bank’s branch procurement functions will be an added advantage.
Interpersonal skills to create and maintain relevant business networks

Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure that an efficient procurement management system is maintained in the bank.
Preparation and consolidate of procurement plans and implementation
Review the terms of reference/technical specifications from user departments and prepare request for proposal/invitation for tender and recommend their approval to the Tender Board
Prepare advertisement of Bids/Tenders
Follow up and ensure evaluation of Bids and Proposals for award recommendations are done in timely manner
Prepare request for expression of interest and follow their approval and advertisement
Prepare Request for Quotations for Goods/Services under Local Minor and non-consultancy services
Perform Registering and safeguarding of performance and bid securities
Coordinate pre-contract negotiations

Position objectives:
Maintain positive reputation of the bank brand and maintain a strategic relationship with the public, prospective customers, partners, employees and other stakeholders which leads to positive image of the bank.

Education and Experience:
Master Degree in Mass Communication or Public Relations or International Relations or its equivalent qualification from any recognized University.

Knowledge and effective application of PBZ policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines to consistently achieve required compliance standards

Duties and Responsibilities
Be an advertising agency contact
Creating awareness about the bank, its goals, products and services
Planning publicity strategies and campaigns
Writing, drafting speeches, arranging interviews and maintaining other forms of public/media contact.
Develop and prepare advertising agency briefs for product launch promotion and special events.
Dealing with enquiries from the public, the press and related organizations
Organizing and attending promotional events such as press conferences, open day, exhibitions etc

Post : ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN
Location : Unguja 1
Position objectives:
Maintain and repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures in accordance with relevant codes.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from any recognized University.
Key skills and Competencies:
experience in the Electrical maintenance

Duties and Responsibilities
Assembling, evaluating, testing, and maintaining the bank’s electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, and apparatus.
Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning the bank’s electrical equipment, appliances, and devices
Constructing and fabricating the bank’s electrical parts, using hand tools and specifications.
Reading and interpreting the bank’s electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, and schematics

Position objectives:
Transport staff and bank properties and a safe and comfortable manner
Education and Experience:
Ordinary Certificate of Secondary School Examination (Form – IV) issued by the National Examinations Council with minimum of Division IV.
Driving Certificate or Certificate of Advanced Driveling will be given priority

Key skills and Competencies:
Possession of a clean Class C driving license
Driving experience of at least three years
Having knowledge of Mechanical Engineering will be an added advantage

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Drive Bank vehicle carefully to ensure safety of the vehicle and passengers
Keep record of logbook for all trips made
Report promptly to the supervisor on all abnormalities that may occur to the vehicle
Keep safely the vehicle’s accessories, such as keys, jacks, spare tyre, spanners, etc.
Carry out minor repair problems to the vehicle and report major ones to the supervisor
Always ensure that first aid kit is available in the vehicle

Holder of driving license in Class D shall be added advantage

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Collect and dispatch messages (correspondences) as may be directed
To assist in photocopying and binding of Bank’s documents as may be directed
Guide customers to respective destinations in the Bank’s offices
Collect incoming and sent outgoing mails to and from the Post Office
File Bank’s documents in the respective files
Distribute mails, files and messages to various locations within and outside the bank premises carry and distribute Bank luggage and parcels to various locations within and outside the Bank premises as may be directed
Escort the Cash in Transit motor vehicle as may be directed
Open and lock doors of the bank premises before and after closure of business
Ensure clean and required utensils are always available for use by officers
Ensure all utensils, flasks, electric kettles, etc, are securely kept
Ensure the safety of the Bank premises and facilities throughout the time

REMUNERATION
Attractive salary with PBZ Scales/Grades will be offered to the selected candidate along with incentive packages as per PBZ Staff regulations.
